THE RECENT NEWS OF OUR COMMUNITY

In 1885, this instute got to be known nationally and in the Church. In 1906, the Sister’s Community was joined officially to the Carmelite Family as the lll Order. The Sisters were then advised by Bishop Rudigier to involve themselves in the practical work of helping the people in need. Since 1920, we work also in Germany and in Uganda since 2002. In 1961, we chose the name for our congregation ,, the Sisters of Mary of Mount Carmel“.

From the beginning of our foundation upto date, Elijah and Mary have shaped our Carmelite Spirituality. Elijah is the father of the Carmelite  Family, stood there with much burning eagerness for the faith in one true God. Elijah was ever in the presence of God and combined his burning eagerness for the things of the Lord in the moments of total silence with God. He is for us a director in this lively union with God , which combines apostleship with contemplation in it. Mary, the mother of God, whose name we carry, is for us a Mother and model in her readiness to listen to the word of God, to welcome it and to keep it in her heart. Like her, we want also to be available for the will of God, in our readiness to serve, in humility and openness. Maria referred with her life to Jesus Christ. Like Mary in God, to find that you in God and to surrender all your being to Him, is the essential feature of the Carmelite Spirituality.
